I need to recognize Totally Baked: Hemp Protein Granola Bars for the inspiration and reference when I was making my own.
- 5 cups quick oats
- 1 ½ cups unsweetened shredded coconut
- ¼ cup poppy seeds
- ½ cup of hemp hearts
- ½ hemp protein
I have used ground flax seed in previous recipes, but did not use any in this one.
- 2 cups peanuts
- 3 cups dates
You can use any kind of nut you want: almonds, walnuts, etc. Adds a great texture!
And instead of dates you could use raisins or craisins. I have not done this, but I could see that also working.
- 4 bananas
- ⅓ cup olive oil
- ⅓ cup of honey
- ⅔ cup of water
Mix dry ingredients into wet until mixed well. Then add crumbled dates and peanuts.
You can add more bananas and use less dates as an option. Play with the ratio and you can decide yourself!
Once out of the oven, I used just a cutting board and flip them upside down. If down carefully, it will stay as one mass. Then, also carefully, pull the wax paper off, using a knife to cut away at the granola mass where the wax paper might stick.
I store mine in the freezer, and find they are still fresh months later. You can take them out a few minutes before eating, but I rarely do.
